FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

What Shawna Coronado is All About!

Shawna's goal is to inspire the world to get off the couch and get out in
the garden to improve physical and emotional health!

Increased Health -

For Shawna, the benefits of garden and horticulture has initiated a life-
changing self discovery: gardening has significantly improved her health and
emotional well-being!

Shawna has suffered for over ten years with severe allergies.  They have
been quite debilitating at times and have most recently developed into
asthma.  A stressful career pushed her blood pressure into an extremely
high range.   During garden “season” Shawna noticed the increased
exercise, sunlight and better breathing techniques had a positive effect by
lowering her blood pressure count, allergy symptoms and increasing
muscle strength and tone.  This exciting personal discovery began her
journey to inspire others in the community to learn about the health benefits
of gardening.

Life altering decision -

For over 18 years Shawna held very stressful positions in business while
maintaining her gardening interests as a sideline.    The extreme stress of
managing long hours at work had left her burnt-out and miserable with her
career.  The life altering decision came to completely reinvent her job by
"downsizing" income and hours so she could move into a business which
was more horticulturally and garden-centric.  It left her more time with family
as well as a more emotionally satisfying career.  Stress will always exist, but
doing what she loves, combined with seeing her family more and being
emotionally available has been a gift for both Shawna and her loved ones.

How she got started -

Shawna received her first gardening experiences while growing up on a
farm in Central Indiana.  Her earliest influences in gardening were her
Grandmothers who each had practical and interesting gardening know-how
to share.

Although Shawna has always enjoyed gardening, her first true interest in
health and gardening as an adult came in the early 1990’s.  She began doing creative
research to learn how to design and paint flowers.  At that time Shawna
owned an art and design firm which specialized in the design and resale of
ornamental items.

From the beginning of her research on the botanical nature of plants,
Shawna became fascinated with the beauty of nature.   With the support of
her loving husband, Luis, she began to garden heartily and soon expanded
her gardens to cover a large portion of their suburban property.  Her garden
became a calming force for her strong personality and "Type A" nature - a
place to be meditative as well as physically active.

Current Activities -

Shawna’s growth in gardening and interest in inspiring others soon led to a
weekly newspaper column based on the subject of gardening.  This column
combined with additional writing ventures has helped her passion for
horticulture, gardening and conservation develop further.  This passion has
touched Shawna's life profoundly.

Shawna continues to write on gardening, health and conservation and owns
her own landscape design firm which focuses on teaching homeowners
how to build and maintain their own gardens while using her design skills.
She is heavily ensconced in expanding her knowledge base on the health
benefits of horticulture and conservation as well as publicly exciting others to
do the same.
