Box 358 Warrenville, IL 60555 Contact: Shawna Coronado FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, 8/21/2007 Shawna Coronado Sworn In As Chairman of the Environmental Advisory Commission! Mayor David Brummel has a strong interest in “greening” the City of Warrenville. This interest has propelled him to rename the Natural Areas Commission with the title, “Environmental Advisory Commission (EAC).” This environmental commission is evolving into a commission centered around environmental concerns – both from an aesthetic and environmentally sound perspective, as well as “greening” the City of Warrenville. Currently, Warrenville, IL has the largest permeable paver street in the State, possibly the country. These types of “green” development and improvement ideas are what the EAC will be all about. Shawna Coronado has been elected Chairman of the EAC. Shawna is a part of the seven member Commissioner team and they will work to improve upon the environment within the city of Warrenville, IL. Commission duties will include: • Coordinate all beautification projects for public and private spaces such as America in Bloom; • Sponsor and coordinate events as approved by the City Council, such as Prairie Path cleanup, Earth Day proclamation, household hazardous waste collections, electronics recycling; • Make recommendations to City Council for adoption of policies, programs and “green” initiatives to protect and enhance the environment; • Improve environmental awareness of residents through educational programs; • Seek out and recommend City application for grant opportunities to improve and promote environmental awareness and behavior Mayor Brummel swore Shawna in to the EAC on August 21, 2007. Shawna continues to advocate community involvement in combination with exercise, daylight exposure and gardening as a way to improve emotional and physical health and well being.
